Adelaide grandfather murder case: Granddaughter and another woman to be extradited to SA
Two Queensland women will be extradited to South Australia for allegedly murdering the grandfather of one of the women in Adelaide last month.
Brittney Jade Dwyer, 19, and Bernadette Burns, 21, are both accused of murdering Dwyer's 81-year-old grandfather Robert Whitwell at his Craigmore home, north of Adelaide, in early August.
The pair were arrested at Redbank Plains, west of Brisbane, last Friday.
Adelaide detectives appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today to seek the extradition order.
Dwyer and Burns will be transported to Adelaide later today and are expected to appear in a South Australian court tomorrow.
South Australian homicide detectives voiced concerns about a number of unexplained factors after Mr Whitwell's body was found in his home on August 8.
A major investigation began, including an appeal to the public for information on Mr Whitwell's movements in the days leading up to his death.
Since the appeal, SA police said they had received information that helped them make a determination about the circumstances of Mr Whitwell's death.
