Rio 2016: Day 14 preview - Jared Tallent, Boomers and BMX riders in focus

Walkers, leapers, riders and vaulters will be representing Australia as the final weekend of Olympic action approaches.

Walking

He may not have been awarded his medal until long after the fact, but Jared Tallent is the reigning 50km walk Olympic champion and will be hell bent on defending his title.

The gruelling race begins at 9:00pm AEST, and expect to see it end before 1:00am AEST, hopefully with Tallent celebrating another gold.

BMX cycling

Turns out Australia is pretty good at this BMX riding stuff, and a raft of Aussies will be competing in the semi-finals - and hopefully then the final - on Day 14.

The women's draw will feature Caroline Buchanan and Lauren Reynolds, whose first of three semi-final runs will be at 2:30am AEST with a potential final at 4:00am AEST.

Aussie men Sam Willoughby and Anthony Dean will be in action in their first semi-final run at 2:38am AEST, with a final scheduled for 4:10am AEST.

Basketball

The Boomers are flying the flag for all our Aussie teams as the various tournaments reach their closing stages, and have made no secret their desire to take gold out of the USA's hands.

Serbia awaits first in a semi-final that will tip off at 8:00am AEST. It's not to be missed.

Pole vault

Alana Boyd snuck into the women's pole vault final by the skin of her teeth, but will be hoping to be among the medal contenders once it gets under way.

Boyd will be in action from 9:30am AEST.
