Rio 2016: Day 15 live blog
It may be the penultimate day of Rio 2016 but there are still plenty of medals up for grabs.
Follow all the action from day 15 in our live blog

- No., that was Australia ... Not helping too much for these Olympics, however.
- There's not much happening early doors for our Aussie golfers in round four ... Su Oh is three shots out of the medals on 4-under, but Minjee Lee is slipping back.Nope! @suohgolf lets birdie chance slide on 3rd as @minjeegolfpays for errant tee shot in 4th. They're now -4 and -2 respectively.
- Brazil takes silver in the men's C2 1,000m final, with Erlon De Souza Silva and Isaquias Queiroz dos Santos finishing just under a second behind gold medallists Sebastian Brendel and Jan Vendrey of Germany.
- I'll take that as a comment, Lm - but in fairness, I think Great Britain are pretty full to the brim with top sports administrators ...
- One of the other big results from day 14 was the dramatic men's 50km walk with Jared Tallent taking silver. He's been thanking his fans for their support.
- In the B final of the C2 1,000m, Ferenc Szekszardi and Martin Marinov have come through to finish second in the B final.
- GB - 25 golds in 14 different sports
- Ok, forget what I said about Ronald Rauhe - his luck has come in, and they have declared it a dead heat for third, so he gets a bronze! Well done Ronald!
- Not any more, LM ... they are a clear second on the tally, and if they get another handful of medals they will equal or better their tally from the home Games in London. tl:dr - they're absolutely flying.
- The unluckiest man at Lagoa is Germany's Ronald Rauhe, who finished level with Spain's Saul Craviotto in 35.662, but the judges found an extra thousandth or 10,000th of a seconds there to separate them, with Craviotto taking bronze.
- Beaumont and Heath raffle it and Heath takes it for GB in 35.197 seconds.Stephen Bird finished eighth in 36.426..
- Bird is out ok, but he's fading a bit
- They're off!
- Britain's Liam heath and Fance's Maxime Beaumont will be the ones to beat here.
- At Lagoa, Stephen Bird is about to race in the A final of the men's K1 200m.
- A quick précis of some other events to look out for tonight - at midnight AEST, Domonic Bedggoodand James Connor will be up for the 10m platform diving semi-finals, then at 1:30am Rebecca Henderson will be on the start line for the mountain biking cross-country event.
- Here's a reminder of where things stand on the medal tally ...#rio2016 Rio2016_en: Circuit_Unify here's the #Rio2016#OlympicGames medal count
- Steady on, Ashok! You must be a newcomer to the blog if you don't know the existential angst that has been flying about for people declaring Aussies as medal favourites before events.Let's just say we're hoping for good things from the K4 crew.
- Not a great start for Minjee Lee, however ...
- Australia's Olympic golf captain Ian Baker-Finch is on Twitter getting behind our two competitors ... good work IBF!Final Day @OlympicGolf @AUSOlympicTeam @minjeegolf@suohgolf C'mon Aussie

- Let's finish the Olympics on a high for all the right reasons. Good luck to all.
- So, what's on the agenda for tonight? The final round of the women's golf is up and running, with Minjee Lee and Su Oh hoping to get firing to move into contention for a medal. From 10pm, we will be back at Lagoa for some kayaking - there are three races with some Aussie content, the focus will be on the men's K4 1,000m crew going for a medal. Also the women's triathlon kicks off at midnight, with Emma Moffat, Ashleigh Gentle and Erin Densham in the action.
- In case you missed all the excitement, Australia re-discovered it’s love of all things modern pentathlon, when Chloe Esposito put together the series of her life to take the gold medal. She started the final event – the combined running and shooting – 38 seconds behind leaderOktawia Nowacka of Poland. It just so happened, however, that Esposito is a fair shot and a decent runner, and she moved through the field to finally pass Nowacka before crossing the line for a stunning victory! Her brother Max will be representing Australia in the men’s comp tonight from about 1:00am AEST – lightning couldn’t strike twice, surely?
- Hello and welcome to day 15 of the Games of the 31st Olympiad in Rio.We’re coming toward the end of these Olympics, but as we found out a little earlier today, just when you think we’ve run out of medal chances, one comes out of left field!I’m Andrew McGarry, and along with Jon Healy we will be taking you through the early stages of competition in Rio.
