Man accused of threatening 90yo woman with knife, stealing her car in Wembley

Police in Western Australia have charged a man over the alleged carjacking of a 90-year-old woman in the western Perth suburb of Wembley.

The woman was sitting inside her car in the driveway of her home about 2:15pm on Tuesday when the man approached her and demanded her vehicle, police said.

"It will be further alleged the man then produced a knife and threatened the victim before grabbing hold of the woman's arm and removing her from the vehicle," a spokesman said.

"The man then drove away in her vehicle."

The Beechboro man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery, possession of methylamphetamine, heroin and cannabis, and obstructing public officers.

He is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court.
